RAF Heritage Centre Opening Schedule for 2022

Thank you to everyone who visited us during 2021. We are currently planning for the 2022 season.  Assuming that we don’t have more Covid19 shutdowns imposed upon us, we plan to open the Heritage Centre on Easter Sunday and then on two Sundays per month from May until September. To complete the schedule, we will also open on the last Sunday in October and on Remembrance Sunday in November. We reserve the option to open on one two additional dates, should the need arise, and if we have sufficient volunteers available, but these are not included in this schedule.

The dates of our Heritage Centre openings for 2022 are as follows:

April: 17th (Easter Sunday);

May: 1st and 29th;

June: 12th and 26th;

July: 17th and 31st;

August: 14th and 28th;

September: 11th and 25th;

October: 30th;

November 13th (Remembrance Sunday).

As usual we will be open from 10am until 4pm. Entrance and parking will be free, and disabled access and toilets will be available.

Please note that we do not plan to open during the extra bank holiday weeken planned for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee (2nd to 5th of June) when it is anticipated that many other key events will be held elsewhere.

We also reserve the right to change this schedule if unforeseen circumstances arise, such as further Government advice regarding the Covid19 pandemic.

 Directions

The Centre is situated within the campus of the National Construction College East (NCC) at Bircham Newton, near King's Lynn, Norfolk PE31 6RH. The Centre is easy to find in West Norfolk, where there are many road signs giving directions to NCC. The Heritage Centre is located near the B1155 road, from Stanhoe to Great Bircham, which passes through the NCC site. It is close to the Birches Hotel & Conference Centre. Additional direction signs are displayed within the campus on open days. There is also a large external sign, which will help you to locate the building from the car park.

Ad-hoc visits

If you are a representative of a large group who wishes to visit, but you are unable to attend on one of the scheduled open dates, we will try to accommodate your group by opening the Centre on an alternative date. To pre-arrange such an ad-hoc visit, you are requested to contact one of the following trustees, who will do their best to accommodate you: Jamie Heffer Tel: 07807098348 or David Jacklin Tel: 01379 741884. We regret that we are not able to offer ad-hoc visits to individuals who are not part of a larger group.
